"As I was approaching the milestone of my 30th birthday I was looking back at
my life as well as looking forward. I wanted to capture this experience in a
song so, while visiting my friend Sean Keating, we took a pen and paper with
us on a walk along the dirt roads surrounding his farm.
By the end of the walk we had the lyrics pretty much nailed.
Later on when I had the opportunity to shoot a video for this song the car I
used for the shoot was a 1965 Pontiac Parisienne made in the same year as I
was born. Interesting coincidence given the subject matter of the song!"
SONG LYRICS
It doesn't seem that long, 30 years have come and gone
Looking back I think you should never blink your eyes
1973, Richard Nixon, Elvis Presley
Mysterious memories come flooding back to me
Driving on, check your rear view mirror
And remember what's been goin' on
Driving on, check your rear view mirror
And remember what's come and gone
Then move on
1984, George Orwell and theatre wars
Fresh out of school with a bag full of songs to sing
In that very year, Katie and the night of a thousand years
Beer on tap and friendships come and go
Driving on, check your rear view mirror
And remember what's been goin' on
Driving on, check your rear view mirror
And remember what's come and gone
Then move on, then move on
I feel so alive, life is like a Sunday drive
Got this car in gear and the radio's playing my song
Driving on, check your rear view mirror
And remember what's been goin' on
Driving on, check your rear view mirror
And remember what's come and gone
Then move on, then move on
