WORKING ON FAITH - Track 2 Video

"Sometimes you gotta close your eyes, jump off, hold on, you'll reach it….

This is a lyric line from “Working On Faith”, the 2nd song from my upcoming live CD.  As a full-time musician and songwriter, I seem to live in the middle of that leap of faith every day. It's part of how your skin grows thicker & you keep on keepin’ on, learning how the music can feed you and change your shape into the most true representation of yourself.

- BEHIND THE SONG -
I happened to hear someone being interviewed on the radio who had come through a really rough time. When the interviewer asked how they were doing, their response was, "I'm working on faith". It seemed like a powerful line so I brought the idea to a co-writing session with Bill DiLuigi while on a trip to Nashville. The idea seemed to click because it was written in a couple of hours.  For me, it’s a song about being a work in progress and having hope.  Click on the video to watch the live performance.  Hope you enjoy it.  If you know someone who might find encouragement in the song, please share.

- LYRICS -
I've got a lot of troubles and a few good friends
Who tell me the truth and love me for who I am
But late at night when they're not around
My worries all come sneaking out
And try to weigh me down but

I'm working on faith, I'm diggin’ down deep
I'm learning to fly by hitting my knees
I'm losing my doubts, changing my shape
         A little more each day
I'm working on faith, I'm working on faith

I'm fighting hard to believe
In the kind of man that I want to be
Any minute he'll show up
I'm pretty sure he won't give up on me
Don't give up on me ‘cause

I'm working on faith, I'm diggin’ down deep
I'm learning to fly by hitting my knees
I'm losing my doubts, changing my shape
         A little more each day
I'm working on faith, I'm working on faith

It doesn't mean it's gone if you can't feel it
You know sometimes you just gotta close your eyes
And jump off, hold on, you'll reach it

I'm working on faith, I'm diggin’ down deep
I'm learning to fly by hitting my knees
I'm losing my doubts, changing my shape
         A little more each day
I'm working on faith, it won't do me wrong
It's killing the blues right here in this song
I'm getting over myself getting out my way
         A little more each day
I'm working on faith, I'm working on faith
